Day 2 M/S Polarlys

September 11, 2009, Friday
M/S Polarlys

The day has dawned and it is beautiful. We have already made 6 or seven stops along our route and I slept through most of them. Today I’m glad I’m alive!! Yesterday I just wanted somebody to take me out and shoot me because I was so miserable but the seasickness has passed. I now have a whole new level of sympathy for folks who suffer from seasickness. What a helpless feeling!! Ah well.

We are settling in to ship life. It is such a tiny ship and they have no planned activities at all. The big activity is to wait for the next port of call!! Breakfast this morning was a typical Scandinavian breakfast. Lots of weird fishy dishes, sliced ham, sliced cheese and breads of all sorts—mostly healthy, seedy, brown. There were also some tiny little meatballs!! I’m not sure what the meatballs were all about but I had a couple and they were fine. No sauce, just meatballs….for breakfast!! I love traveling. You just have all kinds of new experiences and learn new things!!

Don had dinner last night with 4 Germans who spoke no English and barely acknowledged him. He was very unhappy so this morning we got a different table assignment and will be with the Grand Circle group, all of whom speak English.

We will be stopping at the northernmost town in the world in a little bit and I’m determined to get off and try to buy something from there!! My token purchase from the northernmost city in the world!! I’ll probably wind up with a dumb reindeer or something!! LOL

So far have been unable to log on to the Internet although my computer says the wifi signal is excellent. Don’t really know what is wrong but will try to get it figured out.
